misc · Meeting of May 8, 2026

NY EDEN — Planning Board sets $10,000 escrow for National Grid substation site plan review. The five-member quorum unanimously approved the site plan review escrow for a new electric substation at 9733 Southwestern Boulevard that National Grid says will increase regional power reliability and reduce load on existing substations. Project Manager David Saxton and Counsel Ari Goldberg addressed board concerns about fencing visibility, emergency access, and landscape buffers, with sound testing from nearby dwellings showing 28 and 22 decibels.

Town Engineer Dave Johnson required a state Department of Transportation highway work permit and photometric plans for dark sky compliance. The board also unanimously approved a resolution allowing delayed installation of two streetlights at Evergreen Acres III pending completion before occupancy certificates are issued.
