NY EDEN — Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved an area variance for March Road home. Applicants Giovanni and Estelle Schifano sought to enlarge their home with garage space, replacing a detached garage scheduled for demolition. The current home met 68 percent of the required 25-foot setback, while the expanded home would meet only 1 percent.
Board members questioned whether Code section 225-37 on nonconforming buildings required a variance, but the board concluded the expansion would not adversely affect the neighborhood.
